To celebrate Culture Shock’s 6th birthday on May 18th, we are hosting 2 of our favourite Dj’s in recent years in the shape of Shanti Celeste & Saoirse who will play a very special back to back set all night long in the vaults.
Born in Chile but raised in the UK since infancy, Shanti Celeste had her first contact with electronic music at age 15 in the legendary raves of Lake District. After finishing highschool, Celeste moved to Bristol to study illustration at the University of West England. There she met Chris Farrell, manager of DJ label Idle Hands, where Celeste starts working part-time. Later, Celete and Farrell launched the BRSTL label, on which Shanti published her debut “Your Lovin’ (Baby)” in 2013. During her time in Bristol, she began organizing her own club night,
Having spent the best part of 15 years collecting records Saoirse has now established herself as a very familiar name within the electronic music community.
Saoirse’s first foray into the field of electronic music came at a very young age, accompanying her mother to free parties and raves in her home country of Ireland. It was at these parties that her young ears began to make sense of the sounds from the likes of Leftfield, Fluke & Orbital and a close allegiance to electronic music was forged. It wasn’t long before every last penny was being spent on vinyl and every spare hour spent digging for records old and new.
